Whilst we are bound to be biassed (as highly regulated breeders of long established Pedigree breeds), the facts are simple. If you cross two different breeds, the resulting progeny (however useful, cute or robust they may be) are definitively mongrels. Strangely, that particular terminology has been replaced by so called designer breed names, such as 'Sprocker', 'Labradoodle', 'Jackapoo' and 'Cheagle', and the price tag has changed, too, more than anybody seems to realise.

These 'designer breeds' now change hands for between 125% and 200% of the value of their Pedigree procreators. That is the equivalent of paying £3,000 for a bona fide used Ford Mondeo, by comparison to, say, £5,000 for a 'cut and shut' Peugeot! Any savvy car buyer wouldn't, and it deludes us why any dog buyer would. If there was a saving, it would make more sense, but to pay a premium seems ludicrous.

Worse still, these 'designer breeders' have had the audacity to create registers to legitimise their antics, using categorisations like F1 and F2, in an attempt to emulate the credibility provided for over a century by The Kennel Club.
